The New Headquarters of Leverage, Inc, (The Apartment Above Lukes), Saturday Evening
Once again, Hardison was in trouble. His back against a wall, surrounded by enemies intent on taking him down, for a few seconds Hardison let himself wonder if this was really the way he was going to be taken down.

Aww, hell naw. He was not about to lose to a buncha chumps, even if he was drastically outnumbered.

"Look, Eliot, watch this!" And several seconds of furious button-mashing later, he'd managed to take out all of his opponents, using impressive combos, bright flares of magic, and a few badass items in his inventory. "Bet you was nervous, huh. Not like me. I was cool as a cucumber the whole time." Ignore the way he was sagging against the back of the couch, Eliot, he'd been totally fine.

This was the way Hardison had imagined it going once he moved to the island: no creepy zombie-horror fog outside, the three of them sharing space again, together even while they did their own things, happy and content.

"Oooh, I'm gettin' hungry. Eliot, you seen my bag of gummy frogs? Or maybe we should order more pizza after I finish up this level."

Well, he was happy and content anyway.

[For the crew & expecting one more, but open if anyone else should have a reason to drop by!]

2015-03-29 01:19 am (UTC) (Link)

Sometime around when the fog had started to clear up, Eliot had actually started feeling better. Not, like, go beat people up better. But enough better that he managed to be sitting on the couch instead of lying there, so, you know, progress!

He might've even managed to read a book or something, but Hardison was -- being Hardison.

"You're not orderin' pizza," Eliot grumbled, glaring at the video game as though it was personally responsible for everything that made him cranky. "I'll make dinner."

2015-03-29 01:25 am (UTC) (Link)

His sitting up on the couch just meant that there was more room for Hardison to lounge against him. Which he was doing. Because it was more comfortable to play video games this way, sure. And not because he needed physical contact or anything, really.

"Uhh..." For this revelation, Hardison actually paused his game. "You sure you wanna do that? Pizza would probably be easier."

Ignore that it was what they'd had for about three meals straight by this point.

2015-03-29 01:32 am (UTC) (Link)

The fact that Eliot hadn't shoved Hardison away yet was totally because he was conserving strength. Definitely not because he in anyway needed the physical contact.

"I haven't cooked anything in --" Eliot thought back and groaned. "-- weeks." His paranoid-crazy self had been more interested in building traps than planning meals. Probably because cooking calmed him down. "And I ain't eating any more pizza.

2015-03-29 01:47 am (UTC) (Link)

They were just two guys behind the wheel doing their thing, nothing more going on than that!

"Well, a'ight, if you wanna," Hardison said, shrugging. "Not sure what we got in the house for you to make. Feel free to look around, make yourself at home, all that."

"There's a Chinese place," Parker says. "Or sushi."

She still needed to get him a new cutting board. Although, it was a really good sign that he wanted to cook, wasn't it?

2015-03-29 01:51 am (UTC) (Link)

"I'm cooking," Eliot said again. Just as soon as he managed to get up. "I can get stuff from downstairs if I have to."

Or make one of them do it. Stairs were -- slightly intimidating right now.

"Hey man!" Hardison said, sounding insulted. "We got food in the fridge! We got cheese an' milk an' bread an' some butter left..."

The staples! His Nana had shown him that he could live for close to forever just on those staples if he really had to.

"...some leftovers, I think...some orange soda..."

"And ketchup. And Cheetos."

See, that could be the side dish.

Okay, this had been... stupid. So damn stupid, Sparkle was coming to realize, as he stood (leaned against a railing) at the bottom of the stairs looking up at the door to the apartment he'd last seen when he was breaking into the damn place. Like. He could just mail this to them or something. It wasn't like he was in any state to even be standing the hell up right now, and Karina and Atton would probably kill him for being upright, never mind upright and about to climb even more stairs.

Stupid island. Stupid stairs.

Stupid Sparkle.

It took a few more minutes for him to get up to the door, taking them a couple at a time and stopping for breaks along the way, before he just sort of slumped again at the rail at the top. Stupid stupidstupidstupid. There was no way this could end well. There was, like, a mailbox, right? He could leave this in there and that'd work just fine, too. Couldn't possibly backfire as much as this.

He knocked. And then, in a brief moment of panic, wondered just how badly he'd end up hurting himself if he tried stumbling back down the steps again to escape before somebody answered the door.

2015-03-29 02:17 am (UTC) (Link)

Eliot sat up a little straighter, immediately on the alert -- though he still wasn't getting up off the couch. Val, sitting on the floor in front of the couch, did exactly the same thing.

"You guys expectin' company?"

2015-03-29 02:23 am (UTC) (Link)

For someone who had just helped free his best friend from an evil, soul-stealing curse put on him by the world's nastiest secondhand shopkeep, Hardison's response was just a little blasé .

"Right, Eliot, because it's an intruder who knocks," Hardison said, rolling his eyes as he answered the door. "At least he'll be very polite when he kicks my--uhh, hello?"

He'd finally noticed the kid at their door. "Uhh, are you lookin' for Parker or Eliot?"

He was assuming this was a kid from their class. Possibly with more apologies for not being polite enough.

2015-03-29 02:28 am (UTC) (Link)

"I." Sparkle looked at the guy who opened the door, and realized right about then that this was pretty much his last chance to bail (possibly by just flinging himself down the stairs and crawling back to the clinic) if he was going to go the 'not stupid' route, here. "Um. I don't entirely know."

Oh fuck, he was so tired, and now he sounded like an idiot, on top of feeling like one.

"I have a... um... A delivery? For whoever lives here? Priority mail, super important stuff, can't just leave it in the mailbox, you know how it is."

Nailed it.

2015-03-29 02:31 am (UTC) (Link)

"You're not the mailman. It's not a bomb, is it?" Parker joined Hardison at the door, then gave Sparkle a confused look. "I don't know you."

So not, not one of their students.

2015-03-29 02:37 am (UTC) (Link)

Val jumped up and went running over to greet the new person! Hi! Hi!

Eliot pushed himself up from the couch and got as far as -- the arm of the couch. Where he totally sat casually with his arms folded and sized up the kid at the door. "Try that again," he suggested. "Without lyin'."

There might even be "you're not the only moron" commiseration, afterwards.

2015-03-29 02:44 am (UTC) (Link)

Hardison sized the kid up and then moved out of the doorway. "Here, why don't you come inside first," he said, because at least one of the crew had to be decently socialized and Sophie wasn't here anymore. "I can't have you fallen down these stairs or nothing cause the wind picked up."

The hazards of legally owning something, ugh. There were insurance and premiums and all kinds of hassles.

"You hungry?" he asked, already turning back into the house. "There's omelettes and stuff if you want some."
